Biography
Anne Bolt is Head of Keyboard at Oakham School, a position she has held for the past 20 years. Having been awarded a music scholarship at Wells Cathedral School from the age of 11, she went on to Oxford University to study Music and then completed the Advanced Solo Studies Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Hilary Coates. Anne was fortunate to be awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and English-Speaking Union Fellowship that enabled her to continue her postgraduate studies at Indiana University, USA, for two further years, studying with Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio).
Anne is passionate about bringing chamber music to everyone and collaborates with her friends from the music world to perform exciting programmes of opera, song, piano trios, piano duets and other duo works. She has a regular violin and piano duo with the Dutch violinist, Annebeth Webb, and has worked with the tenor, Harry Jacques, on several occasions over recent years, giving performances in London and St David’s as well as throughout the East Midlands. She has recently been appointed as Programme Director for "Music in Lyddington", and also runs the Arts for the Heart of England Festival with her friend and colleague, David Hill. Anne had the privilege of accompanying the IKON Singers in a premiere of John Rutter’s Dancing Tree in the presence of the composer on his 80th birthday, and recently played the orchestral reduction of Elgar’s newly realised Piano Concerto with David Owen Norris.
As a concerto soloist, Anne’s performances include Mozart’s D minor Concerto, Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto, Chopin’s 1st Piano Concerto and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra and the Rutland Sinfonia, as well as Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Martin Cropper (violin) and Richard Jenkinson (cello). She has been invited to play the Schumann Piano Concerto with the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Keith Slade next year at Pershore Abbey in May 2027. Anne is a founding member of the Oakham Piano Trio which continues to give concerts throughout the UK and Holland, and she also performs with Camerata RCO (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) in some of their chamber music concerts here in the UK.
Alongside her career in performing and teaching, Anne has brought up three children (a son and twin girls) who are now all in their twenties and enjoying life in London. One of her daughters was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour, so her spare time is spent learning about this disease and fighting for Brain Cancer Justice.
